God exists outside of time, he is eternal. In fact, He was present before time began. He is the one and only God, expressed in three distinct persons, whom we refer to as the Trinity: God the Father; God the Son; and God the Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all things, including us. His original vision was to be with us, love us, and live in perfect community with us forever in paradise. He is holy and therefore cannot live in the presence of sin, which is our disobedience towards God.
The Bible is the Word of God to man. It was written by men who were inspired by God’s Spirit. It is without error and essential for training and equipping us to grow into the person God designed us to be.
God created Adam and Eve in His own image and placed them in the Garden of Eden with Him. He wanted them to freely choose to follow Him, so He created them with a free will. Unfortunately, Adam & Eve chose to sin against God. Their sin infected the rest of humanity causing us to be separated from Him. Humanity was and is in need of a savior, one who can cleanse us from our sin.
Ever since Adam & Eve sinned, God’s greatest desire has been to redeem us, despite our failures. And so He sent His one and only son, Jesus Christ, to accomplish that desire and provide a way back to Him. Jesus Christ is God the Son. He left heaven as God to come to earth as a man in the form of a baby, born to a virgin. He grew up and lived a sinless life; was crucified on the cross to pay for all our sins once-and-for-all; was raised to life by the power of the Holy Spirit, thus conquering sin and death. This is known as the gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus has become the one and only savior of the world.
Our sin has earned us death. There’s nothing we can do to save ourselves, no matter how good we think we are. But Jesus took our rightful place on the cross. He died to pay our debt and provide forgiveness of our sins. Now He offers the free gift of salvation to all who place their faith in Him as their Lord and Savior. So we are saved by grace, through faith in Him. Our faith is expressed through repentance of our sins, confession of our faith in him, and baptism by immersion. The result of our decision to accept Him is salvation, eternal life with Him in heaven. If, however, we choose not to accept Jesus, we will be eternally separated from God in hell.
The Holy Spirit is God the Holy Spirit. Whenever we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit comes to live inside each of us to guide, counsel, and encourage us. He helps us understand God’s Word, points out our sin, and provides the power to overcome and live a holy life.
When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior we are also added to the family of God. The church is the representation of the family of God on earth. Just before Jesus returned to heaven, He gave the church a mission to do three things: win people of all nations to Jesus Christ; equip believers to be disciples; and then send those disciples out to win others to Jesus Christ. The church is known as the body of Christ and each of us is a part of that body which lives to bring glory to Him by using the our gifts and talents to accomplish His will on earth.
Being made in the image of God, humanity has an eternal quality of life. Although we die physically, we all face leteral realities of eternal destination. Scripture teaches that Heaven is the eternal destination of those made righteous through Christ and that Hell is the eternal destination of those bearing the weight of their own sin. Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly to earth. Those consigned to Hell will be eternally separated from God in everlasting punishment and those who have trusted in Christ will be resurrected with glorified bodies to receive their reward and dwell forever in Heaven with the Lord.
